Police search for missing Needham girl, 17

Published by The Boston Globe

Needham police say they are searching for a 17-year-old Needham girl, described as missing and possibly endangered, who was last seen in Malden on Friday.

Mikayla Bennett is described in a press release as a white female, 4 feet 9 inches tall and 150 pounds, with dark hair and olive skin. She was last seen at 8:30 p.m. on Friday wearing blue jeans, a brown V-neck shirt, red and white sneakers, and a black backpack.

She was on her way to Lynn at an MBTA bus stop in Malden, the statement said. She was on a weekend pass from a Department of Children and Family Serivices residential program and may be in need of medical attention.

Needham investigators went to the Lynn Police Department to speak with a juvenile who was arrested for a warrant unrelated to the missing person investigation, said Captain Michael Mageary of the Lynn police.

There is a Child in Need of Services warrant for her in effect, and anyone with information should contact Needham police detectives at 781-455-7570, the release said.
