Airbags snatched from 21 cars at Honda Village lot

Published by The Boston Globe

Airbags were stolen from 21 automobiles in a Honda Village storage lot on Stanley Avenue in Watertown earlier this month, police said.

An employee reported the theft around 1 p.m. on July 12 after discovering that 21 vehicles had broken windows. The Hondas, which were brand new and of various models, were missing airbags worth around $900 to $1,000 each, said Lieutenant Michael Lawn of the Watertown police.

Investigators believe the theft occurred between July 10 and July 12, Lawn said.

Police have received reports of similar incidents at the dealership’s storage lot over the last few months, Lawn said. Someone recently attempted to steal tires from the lot, Lawn said.

Honda Village has a showroom and service facilities on Washington Street in Newton. Company officials could not immediately be reached for comment.
